Speaking of the Blue Jays, I hope Fred Lewis shows the Giants they shouldn't have traded him. You couldn't help but like that guy. Plus, he hit the only foul ball I've ever caught at a big league game.

Damn, that's funny.

Shea Hillenbrand's time on the Giants, however, not so funny.

Today is the Giants home opener. I wish I was going to be there to enjoy it. Will be stuck at work and can't even watch it on tv.

Monday's season opener against the Astros was a delight. Lincecum is just so good that you become spoiled and expect greatness each time out. He didn't seem to have trouble with anyone in their lineup. Hunter Pence looked especially bad.

Wednesday's game, I was especially happy to see Brett "I beat up my wife in front of Fenway" Myers get lit up by the supposed-to-be lowly Giants offense. Edgar Renteria - 5 hits! Damn, maybe he really is going to turn it around this year. Spring optimism is easy to feel a few games in, but it's not like he did that any time last year. Seems like the guy has something to prove this time around.

Monday night Figgins went first to third on a stolen base/throwing error, TWICE, and ended up scoring both times. Another four years of this nonsense, goddamn.

I was dissapointed to hear that Cust was released as well. Not being much of an A's follower, it was a bit of a shock. It seems like too much of a gamble to trust that Chavez can remain healthy, though I do agree with it in the sense that now, Chavez has a higher chance of remaining healthy.

I'm intrigued by a guy like Cust who strikes out a ton, yet still leads the team in OBP. To me, this means that if I watched the team every day, this would not be the guy who's constantly hitting into double plays, killing rallies.

It would be interesting to see a stat on the negative vs. positive influence on winning of a player like Miguel Tejada who always has great offensive numbers, but makes so much negative contact, that he leads the league in double plays.

Anyway, I guess we'll see where Cust ends up. I hope someone picks him up, but I bet you guys are right, and he probably will end up clearing waivers.

Porcine slugger, ha! Tail/tale, fixed. I do agree that he's a better than even bet to clear waivers (translation: I admit this post was melodramatic). If he does then I'm triply likely to head up to Sac to see the Rivercats...wanna go?
